Job Description
Design the experience. Shape how people interact with what we build.
About the Job
This role goes beyond creating visually appealing interfaces.
At Blawdigital, design is not treated as decoration — it is treated as a core part of how our products work, communicate, and deliver value. As a UI/UX Designer, you will be responsible for shaping how users experience our products from the ground up.
You will not be stepping into an existing design system or refining established patterns. Instead, you will be working closely with product and technology to define the design direction itself. This includes how our platforms look, how they feel, how users navigate them, and how effectively they solve real problems.
Because we are a startup, this role requires someone who is comfortable operating in an environment where structure is still being built. You will contribute not just designs, but also the thinking, systems, and standards behind those designs.
You will be involved early in the product lifecycle, contributing to how ideas are translated into usable, intuitive experiences. Your work will directly influence how users perceive and interact with Blawdigital’s ecosystem, starting with Whazzonline and extending across future products.
This is a role for someone who wants to build meaningful products, not just deliver screens.
Responsibilities
As a UI/UX Designer at Blawdigital, your responsibility begins with understanding the problem before designing the solution.
You will work closely with product and engineering to break down ideas into user flows, ensuring that every interaction is intentional and aligned with user needs. This requires you to think deeply about how users behave, what they expect, and how to make their experience seamless and intuitive.
Your work will involve translating product requirements into wireframes, prototypes, and final interface designs that are both functional and visually coherent. However, beyond execution, you will be expected to justify your design decisions — ensuring that they are grounded in logic, usability, and clarity rather than preference.
You will also play a key role in defining and maintaining design consistency. As new features and products are developed, you will ensure that the experience remains cohesive across the entire ecosystem. Over time, this will evolve into a structured design system that supports scalability.
Collaboration is central to this role. You will work closely with developers to ensure that designs are implemented accurately, and that technical constraints are considered early in the design process. This reduces rework and ensures smoother execution.
You will also be responsible for continuously improving the user experience. This involves reviewing existing flows, identifying friction points, and refining designs based on feedback and performance insights.
As the company grows, you will contribute to establishing design processes, guidelines, and documentation that allow future designers to integrate seamlessly into the system you helped build.
REPORTING LINE: Chief Operating Officer
Requirements
This role requires someone who is both creative and structured in their thinking.
1. You should have a strong understanding of both user experience and user interface design, with the ability to move from concept to execution confidently. You should be comfortable creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using modern design tools.
2. More importantly, you should be able to think in systems. Design at Blawdigital is not about isolated screens. It is about creating consistent, scalable experiences across multiple products and touchpoints.
3. You should be able to understand product requirements and translate them into clear user journeys. This includes anticipating user behavior, simplifying complex flows, and ensuring that interactions feel natural and intuitive.
4. You should also be comfortable working in an environment with limited structure. This means being able to define your own processes, manage your time effectively, and take ownership of your work without constant supervision.
5. Attention to detail is critical. Small inconsistencies in design can create confusion and reduce trust in the product. You should have a strong eye for layout, spacing, typography, and visual hierarchy.
6. Finally, you must be aligned with the nature of an early-stage startup. This role requires patience, commitment, and a long-term mindset. You should be motivated by the opportunity to build something meaningful, not just deliver short-term output.
Compensation Structure (Important)
• This is an early-stage, pre-revenue/early-revenue role
• No salary at this initial phase
• Blawdigital will cover:
• Work tools and software
• Data and operational resources
• 0.3 % Equity allocated to you under Whazzonline, with a 1 year cliff and 4 years vesting period.
• Starting compensation at the beginning of the early revenue phase: 150,000 Net, with periodic increments as we grow.
• Incentives based on milestones
This structure is designed for individuals who want to build long-term value and ownership, not just earn short-term income. Given the nature of this early-stage engagement, you will be advised to take on other part-time jobs to cover your living expenses.
