Role Description The Loan Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Ilorin, responsible for managing the end-to-end loan process for micro-entrepreneur clients. Day-to-day tasks include identifying and prospecting potential clients, conducting credit assessments, and underwriting loan applications in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements. The role involves guiding clients through loan origination, explaining product terms, collecting necessary documentation, and monitoring loan performance after disbursement. The Loan Officer will provide ongoing customer service, respond to inquiries, support repayment plans, and maintain accurate records in the bank’s systems. Collaboration with branch staff to meet portfolio quality and growth targets is also a key part of this role.
Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience in loan officer or similar roles, with strong knowledge of microfinance lending practices and loan origination processes.
• Solid understanding of finance principles, credit analysis, and underwriting standards applicable to micro and small business clients.
• Proficiency in customer service, including handling client inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining long-term relationships with borrowers.
• Ability to evaluate loan applications, assess client capacity and collateral, and make sound, data-informed lending recommendations.
• Relevant academic background in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse clients and cross-functional teams.
• Comfort with basic banking software, spreadsheets, and digital tools used for loan processing and portfolio monitoring.
• High ethical standards, commitment to compliance, and a strong interest in community development and financial inclusion.
