Role Description
The Loan Officer (Ajah Branch) is a full-time, on-site role based in Lagos, responsible for managing the end-to-end lending process for micro and SME clients. The role involves identifying and prospecting potential clients, explaining loan products, and guiding applicants through documentation and application procedures.
The Loan
Officer will conduct credit appraisals, analyze financial information, and recommend loan approvals in line with the bank’s risk and compliance policies. Daily activities include maintaining client relationships, monitoring loan performance, following up on repayments, and supporting loan recovery efforts when necessary. The role also includes preparing regular reports, collaborating with branch and risk teams, and contributing to the branch’s loan portfolio growth and overall performance.
Qualifications
• Strong skills in client relationship management, customer service, and communication to engage and support micro and SME borrowers.
• Proficiency in credit analysis, financial assessment, and basic accounting to evaluate loan applications and determine creditworthiness.
• Knowledge of microfinance operations, lending procedures, and regulatory compliance relevant to Nigerian financial institutions.
• Good organizational, documentation, and time management skills to handle multiple loan files and meet branch targets.
• Comfort with digital tools and basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office, loan management systems) for processing and tracking loans.
• Ability to work on-site in Ajah, Lagos, with a high level of integrity, reliability, and attention to detail.
• Previous experience in microfinance, retail banking, or SME lending is highly beneficial.
• Relevant academic background in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field is an advantage.
