ABOUT THIS JOB
As the Project Development Manager, you will lead the design and structuring of projects from concept to implementation readiness. This role ensures that all projects are strategically aligned, financially viable, and execution-ready.
You will be responsible for developing proposals, building project frameworks, coordinating with stakeholders, and translating ideas into actionable plans. Your role will also involve supporting funding opportunities, defining project outcomes, and ensuring that all initiatives are positioned for successful delivery and measurable impact.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Strategy and Development
• Lead the design and structuring of development and consulting projects.
• Translate concept notes into full project implementation frameworks.
• Develop detailed work plans, timelines, and delivery models.
• Ensure alignment of all projects with organisational strategy and donor requirements.
Proposal Development & Funding Support
• Support the development of proposals, concept notes, and funding applications.
• Assist in identifying funding opportunities and strategic partnerships.
• Develop project budgets in collaboration with finance and programme teams.
Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination
• Engage partners, consultants, and stakeholders during project design phases.
• Coordinate cross-functional input into project planning and execution readiness.
• Support partnership development and stakeholder mapping.
Monitoring & Planning Systems
• Develop project planning tools, frameworks, and tracking systems.
• Support the development of monitoring indicators and success metrics.
• Ensure all project documentation is complete and structured.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field. A postgraduate degree is an advantage.
Experience
• Minimum 4–6 years of relevant experience in project development or design roles.
• Strong experience in proposal writing and donor-funded project design.
• Experience working in consulting, development, or programme environments.
• Strong understanding of project lifecycle management.
Skills and Competencies
• Strong project design and analytical skills.
• Excellent writing and proposal development ability.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and coordination skills.
• Ability to translate ideas into structured implementation plans.
