Job Description
Purpose of the Job • The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering assigned EPC/fabrication / construction projects within scope, budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
• The role ensures effective resource planning, stakeholder coordination, risk management, and compliance with Marconi’s safety, quality, and operational standards.
• The Project Manager serves as the primary point of accountability for project execution and client satisfaction.
Job Duties / Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Project Planning & Coordination:
• Develop detailed project execution plans (PEP), schedules, and resource plans.
• Ensure project scope, deliverables, milestones, and timelines are clearly defined and communicated.
• Lead project kickoff meetings and align all stakeholders on project expectations.
Project Execution & Delivery:
• Coordinate daily project activities across engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, and logistics.
• Monitor work progress against baseline plans and initiate corrective actions where necessary.
• Ensure timely completion of fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
Cost, Budget & Resource Management:
• Prepare project budgets and cost forecasts.
• Track expenditures, manage cost variations, and drive cost-control initiatives.
• Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, equipment, and materials.
Stakeholder & Client Relationship Management:
• Serve as the primary contact for clients, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Provide weekly progress reports, dashboards, and project performance updates.
• Manage expectations, resolve conflicts, and maintain strong client relationships.
Risk & Issue Management:
• Identify project risks early and develop mitigation plans.
• Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions where required.
• Ensure strict adherence to HSE guidelines and permit-to-work systems.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
• Ensure all project deliverables comply with technical specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.
• Oversee inspections, FAT, SAT, quality checks, and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and contractual obligations. Team Leadership & Supervision
• Coordinate the work of project engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and site teams.
• Lead weekly site coordination meetings and ensure seamless communication among departments.
• Coach and mentor team members to improve capability and performance. Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain complete project documentation, including drawings, change orders, RFIs, quality records, and close-out reports.
• Prepare and submit project closeout reports and lessons-learned documentation.
Key Performance Indicator
• Project delivered on schedule and within approved budget
• Client satisfaction rating HSE compliance (zero LTI, incidents closed on time)
• Project margin vs. planned margin Quality of deliverables and rejection rates
• Accuracy of project reporting and documentation
• Change management efficiency (variation control)
Requirements
Education Qualification
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field.
Professional Qualification
• COREN, NSE
Experience/Skill and Competencies
• PMP, PRINCE2, or relevant project management certification (an advantage).
• 7–10 years of experience managing EPC/fabrication/construction projects.
• Experience in oil and gas fabrication yards or heavy industrial environments preferred.
• Proven track record delivering medium to large-scale projects successfully
Key Competency Requirements:
• Strong knowledge of EPC/fabrication/construction project cycles
• Understanding of engineering drawings, fabrication processes, and QA/QC standards Cost control, budgeting, and project scheduling proficiency (e.g., MS Project, Primavera)
• Contract management and commercial awareness.
