Job Summary
The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for developing and executing HR strategies that support the company’s business objectives. This role requires a seasoned, strategic, and hands-on professional who will oversee the full spectrum of human resources functions in a dynamic food manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong leadership, integrity, and a deep understanding of Nigerian labour laws while fostering a positive, performance-driven work culture.
Key Responsibilities
• Strategic HR Leadership: Partner with senior management to align HR strategies with business goals, workforce planning, and organizational development.
• Talent Acquisition & Onboarding: Lead end to end recruitment processes, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding outstanding talent to meet the company’s growth needs.
• Performance Management: Design and implement performance appraisal systems, set KPIs, and manage employee development plans.
• Employee Relations & Welfare: Promote positive employee relations, handle grievances, disciplinary matters, and ensure a safe, inclusive, and motivating work environment.
• Training & Development: Identify training needs and coordinate programs to enhance employee skills, particularly in food safety, quality standards, and leadership development.
• Compensation & Benefits: Oversee competitive compensation structures, payroll accuracy, benefits administration, and reward systems.
• Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure full compliance with Nigerian labour laws, Factory Act, health and safety regulations (NAFDAC, SON, Oyo State safety standards), and maintain up to date HR policies and procedures.
• HR Administration: Manage HR records, documentation, and reporting. Oversee payroll processing in collaboration with Finance.
• Culture & Engagement: Champion company values, drive employee engagement initiatives, and support diversity and inclusion efforts.
• HR Metrics & Reporting: Track and report on key HR metrics such as turnover, absenteeism, productivity, and recruitment effectiveness.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Psychology, or a related field (Master’s degree is an added advantage).
Professional Certification:
• Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) or equivalent (SHRM, CIPD) is an added advantage.
Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 1 year in a managerial capacity.
• Previous experience in the food production, FMCG, or manufacturing industry is strongly preferred.
• Proven track record managing HR in a multi-shift production environment.
Skills & Competencies:
• In-depth knowledge of Nigerian labour laws and employment best practices.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High level of professionalism, discretion, and ethical conduct.
• Proficiency in HRIS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
