Job Description
Duties And Responsibilities

Macroeconomic Intelligence & Insight Development:

• Lead analysis of macroeconomic and policy developments across global and domestic markets.
• Translate macro trends into implications for the Bank's balance sheet, sectors, and client segments.
• Contribute to position notes, outlook reports, and strategic briefs.
Regional & Cross-Border Economic Intelligence:
• Lead development of macroeconomic insights across the Bank's subsidiary and international markets.
• Contribute to regional macro risk heatmaps and comparative country analysis.
• Translate cross-country developments into implications for treasury positioning, corporate expansion, and client engagement.
• Support alignment of macro intelligence across Nigeria and subsidiary markets to ensure a consistent Group-wide view.
Forecasting & Scenario Analysis:
• Develop and maintain forecasts across inflation, GDP, FX, and interest rates.
• Build and refine forecasting assumptions and analytical frameworks.
• Conduct scenario analysis, including downside and stress cases.
• Deliver structured macroeconomic inputs into ALCO, including forward-looking views on liquidity, rates, and FX.
• Support development of Monthly Macroeconomic Assumptions to inform planning, budgeting, and risk management.
• Contribute to CEO/MD briefing materials and strategic macro narratives.
• Conduct scenario analysis to support balance sheet positioning and risk assessment.
Enterprise Intelligence & Business Linkage:
• Contribute to the development of proprietary economic intelligence products (e.g., indices, sector insights, market frameworks).
• Translate macroeconomic developments into actionable insights for business units, including Corporate Banking, Treasury, Retail, Private Banking, and Subsidiaries.
• Support integration of macro intelligence into client engagement, deposit mobilisation, and sector analysis conversations.
• Align analytical outputs with the Bank's broader growth and market positioning objectives.
Content Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:
• Draft and review economic intelligence outputs and executive summaries.
• Lead development of presentations for ALCO, Board, and senior management.
• Translate complex analysis into concise, decision-relevant slides.
• Support preparation for senior-level engagements (clients, regulators, investors). Contribute to briefing materials and talking points for the Chief Economist.
Job Requirements
Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, or related field (Master’s Degree is preferred).
Experience:
• 5-8 years of relevant experience in economic research, banking consulting, or market intelligence.
• Demonstrated experience producing macroeconomic analysis or strategic insights.
Manning Requirements / Key Attributes:
• Strong macroeconomic and financial market expertise.
• Proven forecasting capability across key macro variables.
• Ability to link macro trends to banking and sector implications.
• Advanced PowerPoint and executive presentation capability.
• Strong writing and structured thinking.
• High attention to detail and quality control discipline
