About the Role
We’re looking for a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to lead the design and development of a scalable, secure, and high-performance platform powering next-generation financial tools. This role sits at the intersection of distributed systems, data infrastructure, and product engineering.
The Senior Backend Engineer will play a foundational role in shaping the technical direction of the company and ensuring the platform is secure, scalable, and reliable.
This position is highly collaborative and requires close interaction with:
• Frontend Engineer
• Product Manager
• Data/AI Engineer
• Backend Engineer
The ideal candidate will be comfortable designing complex systems, solving data-heavy problems, and building secure fintech infrastructure.
What you will doBackend Architecture & Systems Design
• Lead the design and implementation of core backend services using C# and ASP.NET Core
• Define and evolve scalable service architectures for high-volume data processing and insights delivery
• Establish engineering best practices across performance, reliability, and maintainability
Data Platform Development
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas for large-scale, high-integrity datasets
• Build and maintain resilient data ingestion and processing pipelines
• Develop efficient data models to support analytics and downstream applications
External Integrations
• Implement and manage secure integrations with third-party data providers
• Design robust webhook ingestion and event processing systems
• Ensure systems are fault-tolerant, idempotent, and resilient under load
Event-Driven & Asynchronous Processing
• Architect and implement event-driven systems for scalable background processing
• Build pipelines that support near real-time data processing and insights generation
Security & Reliability
• Implement strong authentication, authorization, and data protection mechanisms
• Ensure systems meet high standards for data privacy, security, and compliance
• Contribute to system monitoring, observability, and incident response practices
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with product teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Work closely with frontend engineers to design clean, reliable APIs
• Collaborate with data teams to enable analytics and model deployment
What We’re Looking For
• 7+ years of Solid backend development experience
• Strong experience with C# and ASP.NET Core in production environments
• Proven track record designing scalable backend systems and distributed architectures
• Experience working with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases at scale
• Solid understanding of event-driven architecture and asynchronous processing
• Experience integrating third-party APIs in a secure and reliable way
• Strong grasp of system design, performance optimization, and backend security principles
• Experience in fintech, data platforms, or high-throughput systems
• 5 years experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Exposure to data engineering or analytics workflows
Salary Range
₦1,000,000 – ₦1,300,000 per month (depending on experience and seniority)
