Job Description
The Business & Commercial Manager is responsible for driving business growth, managing commercial performance, and overseeing contractual and financial outcomes across oil and gas projects and operations.
The role requires a highly experienced professional with strong expertise in business development, commercial strategy, contract management, and revenue optimization within the oil and gas sector.
The position plays a critical role in maximizing profitability, managing commercial risk, and ensuring that all business activities align with the Company’s strategic and financial objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESA. Business Development & Revenue Growth
• Identify and develop new business opportunities within the oil and gas sector
• Drive revenue generation through strategic client acquisition and retention
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key industry stakeholders, clients, and partners
• Lead commercial negotiations to secure profitable contracts and projects
• Develop and implement business growth strategies aligned with company objectives
B. Commercial Strategy & Performance Management
• Develop and execute commercial strategies to maximize profitability across projects
• Monitor financial performance, margins, and cost efficiency
• Analyse market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments
• Provide commercial insights to support executive decision-making
C. Contract & Commercial Management
• Oversee contract negotiation, execution, and administration for oil and gas projects
• Ensure all contracts are commercially viable and aligned with company risk appetite
• Manage contract variations, claims, and change orders
• Work closely with legal teams to mitigate contractual risks
D. Project Commercial Oversight
• Provide commercial support across project lifecycle (bidding to execution and close-out)
• Ensure projects are delivered within budget and meet profitability targets
• Collaborate with project managers, finance, and operations teams to control costs
• Track project financial performance and recommend corrective actions
E. Financial Management & Reporting
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for business units or projects
• Monitor revenue performance against targets
• Prepare commercial reports and performance dashboards for management
• Ensure financial discipline and accountability across operations
F. Risk Management & Compliance
• Identify commercial and financial risks across contracts and operations
• Develop mitigation strategies to protect company interests
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies
• Support audit processes and ensure proper documentation
G. Stakeholder Management
• Interface with senior executives, clients, regulators, and partners
• Represent the company in high-level commercial discussions and negotiations
• Build strategic partnerships to enhance market positioning
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field
• MBA or relevant professional certification is an advantage
• Minimum of 8–12 years’ experience in business/commercial roles within the oil and gas sector
• Proven track record in revenue generation, contract negotiation, and commercial management
• Strong experience in project-based environments (EPC, upstream, midstream, or services)
