JOB TITLE- SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
SALARY: 400-600K
LOCATION-Magodo, Lagos, Nigeria (Oversight responsibility across multiple businesses)
Our client, a diversified, well-established group with operations in Education, Energy, and Oil & Gas, is hiring an experienced Senior Accountant to lead and coordinate financial operations across its business units.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, regulatory compliance, budgeting, internal controls, and financial oversight across multiple locations and entities. This role requires a hands-on accounting professional with strong analytical capabilities, sound knowledge of Nigerian tax and reporting standards, and the ability to work independently in a structured multi-business environment.
Candidates with prior experience managing accounts for multi-entity organizations, group operations, schools, energy, or related sectors will have an added advantage.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
FINANCIAL REPORTINGS
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records across all business units and locations.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and periodic financial statements.
• Produce quarterly and annual financial reports for management review.
• Conduct financial analysis, variance analysis, and performance reporting.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial performance across entities.
• Ensure timely bank reconciliations, vendor reconciliations, and payroll reviews.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
• Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
• Track budget performance and provide recommendations for cost control and operational efficiency.
• Support management with financial insights for strategic decision-making.
• Assist with financial planning and resource allocation across business units.
Tax, Compliance & Audit
• Ensure full compliance with Nigerian tax and statutory regulations, including:
• Company Income Tax (CIT)
• VAT
• PAYE
• Withholding Tax (WHT)
• Pension and other statutory remittances
• Prepare and file statutory returns accurately and on time.
• Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory agencies.
• Coordinate and support internal and external audit exercises.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
• Implement and maintain strong internal financial controls across operations.
• Strengthen accounting processes, documentation, and reporting systems.
• Ensure proper documentation and safeguarding of financial records.
• Identify process gaps and recommend improvements for operational efficiency and compliance.
Operational Oversight
• Provide financial oversight for multiple business locations and operational units.
• Supervise accounting support staff where applicable.
• Ensure consistency in accounting standards and reporting across entities.
• Support executive management with timely financial data and business insights.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• ICAN or ACCA qualification is strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years relevant accounting experience in:
• Group or multi-entity organizations
• Education institutions
• Energy or Oil & Gas sectors
• Structured SMEs or organizations with multiple operational units
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and statutory reporting requirements.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial reporting skills.
