Role Description
This is a remote volunteer/internship role for a
Junior Backend Developer (NestJS)
.
You’ll work closely with the product team to build and improve the backend systems powering
AwoofHub
. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain real-world startup experience, contribute to a live product, and grow their backend engineering skills.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in building and maintaining backend services using
NestJS
• Develop and manage APIs for mobile/web applications
• Work with database
PostgreSQL
• Collaborate with frontend developers and product team
• Help improve performance, scalability, and reliability of the system
• Participate in code reviews and learn best practices
Qualifications
• Experience with Node.js and NestJS (projects, coursework, or self-taught)
• Understanding of REST APIs and backend architecture
• Familiarity with databases (SQL or NoSQL)
• Knowledge of Git and version control
• Willingness to learn and work in a startup environment
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting
Bonus (not required):
• Experience deploying applications (e.g., AWS, Cloud, Docker)
• Understanding of authentication systems (JWT, OAuth)
• Contributions to open-source or personal projects (GitHub)
Compensation
This is currently a volunteer role intended for developers looking to gain hands-on experience working on a real product.
