About Us
Tekvera is building a scalable platform that connects patients, providers, and support teams for reliable non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT). Our goal is to ensure every ride from booking to completion is efficient, trackable, and dependable.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Java Backend Engineer with 2–3 years of experience to help build and maintain core services powering our ride booking, provider dispatch, and trip execution systems. You will work closely with product, frontend, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable and scalable APIs.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot
• Build REST APIs for ride booking, provider assignment, and trip lifecycle management
• Integrate with PostgreSQL databases and write efficient queries
• Work with messaging systems (e.g., RabbitMQ) for event-driven workflows
• Implement business logic for ride states (e.g., requested, assigned, en route, completed)
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to support real-time updates
• Debug and resolve production issues, ensuring system reliability
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
Required Skills
• 2–3 years of experience in Java backend development
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and REST API development
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Familiarity with JPA/Hibernate
• Understanding of microservices architecture
• Experience with Git and CI/CD workflows
• Basic understanding of message queues (RabbitMQ or similar)
Nice to Have
• Experience with AWS (EC2, RDS)
• Familiarity with Docker and containerization
• Experience with event-driven systems
• Exposure to real-time systems or logistics platforms
• Knowledge of testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito)
Salary Range
• N200,000 – N250,000 (base salary, depending on experience and location)
• Potential for growth, performance-based increases, and future equity as the company scales
