JOB TITLE: Head of Business Development Upstream

LOCATION: Victoria Island, Lagos

BUDGET: #1,000,000 (NET), Open to negotiation

JOB SUMMARY: Our client is seeking a highly experienced and results-driven professional to fill the role of Head of Business Development (Upstream). This is a senior leadership position for a strategic thinker with deep knowledge of the upstream oil and gas sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Collate, track, monitor and report intelligence on all major activities and projects in the upstream sector, and develop a strategy for the company to partake in identified and viable opportunities.

• Monitor the NIPEX portal on a daily basis.

• Put together bids and tenders with IOCs, NNPC, Marginal Field Operations, and LOCs.

• Ensure the company’s growth objectives are attained by articulating new business development opportunities and identifying, negotiating, and managing relationships with OEMs and technical partners in line with corporate goals.

• Ensure timely conversion of Requests for Quotes (RFQs) to Purchase Orders (POs) and process POs to agreed scope.

• Act as liaison officer between the company and key upstream agencies such as NIPEX, NUMS, NMDPRA, NUPRC, NEPL, etc.

• Identify prospects and develop sales strategies to penetrate and win new accounts, including preparation of presentations and tenders.

• Manage registrations with all relevant bodies for upstream business activities and ensure timely renewals.

• Get the company registered on the Approved Vendors List (AVL) of all IOCs, major OML operators, and marginal field operators.

• Lead the formulation, execution, and monitoring of the company’s upstream business development and market penetration strategies.

• Identify, evaluate, and develop new business opportunities and feasibility reports based on market intelligence.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.

• Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in a supervisory or managerial position in upstream business development.

• Well-experienced in the entire value chain of the bid/tender process.

• Good working knowledge of the upstream sector of the oil and gas industry.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Practical knowledge of upstream sector activities.

• Ability to influence, persuade, and negotiate effectively.

• Must be resilient and demonstrate a high level of consistency on the job.
