Base: Lagos / Port Harcourt Role Overview The Technical Sales Manager drives business growth by promoting and selling the company’s oilfield service solutions, including drilling and completion fluids and associated chemical products. This role combines technical expertise with commercial leadership to understand client needs, develop customized solutions, and secure profitable contracts.
The position requires close collaboration with sales, technical, and operations teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality services that meet client expectations, while adhering to industry standards, quality systems, and Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations. Additionally, the Technical Sales Manager is responsible for building strong customer relationships, expanding market presence, and achieving the company’s revenue and strategic goals within the oil and gas sector. Technical Sales & Commercial Expertise
Strong ability to convert complex technical concepts into commercially viable solutions tailored to client requirements.
Proven capability in business development, including identifying new market opportunities, expanding customer base, and driving revenue growth.
Advanced negotiation and contract management skills to secure profitable service agreements and long-term partnerships.
Client Relationship Management
Demonstrated ability to establish, develop, and maintain long-term relationships with operators, drilling contractors, and key industry stakeholders.
Ability to understand client operational needs and deliver value-driven technical and commercial solutions.

Experience leading and coordinating multidisciplinary teams, including sales, engineering, and field personnel.
Ability to guide teams toward achieving operational targets and commercial objectives.

Strong capability in strategic planning, including developing sales strategies, market penetration initiatives, and revenue forecasts.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical data, operational reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to support informed decision-making.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear and persuasive technical presentations to both clients and internal stakeholders.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with CRM or sales management systems. Competencies
Industry Experience
Minimum of 15 years of operational and technical experience within the oil and gas industry, with strong knowledge of Drilling and Completion Fluids (DCF) and working knowledge of Production Chemical applications to support technical sales and customer solution development.
Technical Knowledge
Demonstrated ability to apply technical expertise in drilling and completion fluid systems to identify customer needs, recommend appropriate solutions, and support field operations.
Educational Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as:
Petroleum Engineering
Chemical Engineering
Chemistry or a related technical field.
Industry Certifications
Relevant industry-recognized training and certifications related to drilling fluids, completion fluids, production chemistry, HSE, or other oilfield operations.
Digital & Analytical Competence
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) for preparing technical proposals, analyzing operational data, generating reports, and delivering client presentations.
Commercial & Client Engagement Skills
Ability to combine technical expertise with commercial awareness to develop customer-focused solutions, support business development initiatives, and strengthen client relationships.
Problem-Solving & Decision-Making
Ability to analyze operational challenges, interpret technical and performance data, and recommend effective solutions that improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
