Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and analytically driven
Accountant
to manage the active financial functions and accounting accuracy of Ikogosi Warm Spring Resort. You will be responsible for the full cycle of financial transactions, ranging from the secure processing of payments on bank portals to the management of guest credit through the city ledger. This role ensures the resort’s liquidity is maintained and that all financial records reflect the true operational state of the facility.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Banking
• Bank Portal Management:
Serve as the primary officer for processing payments on the bank payment portal, ensuring all disbursements are authorized and executed accurately.
• Financial Statement Preparation:
Lead the preparation and review of financial statements to ensure accuracy and adherence to relevant accounting standards.
• Expenditure Monitoring:
Monitor overhead expenses and raise concerns when costs are excessive, identifying specific areas for cost savings.
• Cash Flow Oversight:
Monitor daily cash positions to ensure the resort meets its operational and capital obligations.
City Ledger & Credit Management
• City Ledger Initialization:
Responsible for the opening of city ledger accounts on the Property Management System (PMS) for corporate clients, travel agents, group bookings.
• Account Management:
Manage and reconcile city ledger accounts to ensure timely invoicing and collection of outstanding credit balances.
• Credit Control:
Monitor aging reports and follow up on overdue accounts to minimize financial risk and ensure consistent cash flow.
Cost Control & Profitability
• KPI Regulation:
Ensure food and beverage standard cost KPIs of
35%
and
24%
are strictly regulated and maintained.
• Departmental Profitability:
Analyze departmental profitability and communicating price reviews to identify opportunities for revenue improvement.
• Asset Accounting:
Oversee the update of the asset register and ensure all asset movements are duly represented in the financial records.
Specific Responsibilities
• Revenue Integration:
Align with the Internal Control Specialist to ensure audited daily revenue from rooms, entry fees, and F&B is correctly reflected in the general ledger.
• Operational Compliance:
Ensure all financial activities adhere to Glocient Hospitality’s policies, procedures, and the resort's "handbook" standards.
• Reporting:
Prepare weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly financial reports highlighting performance, liquidity status, and control gaps.
• Management Support:
Assist in any other tasks assigned by management to ensure the smooth financial operation of the resort.
Qualifications & Experience
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics. Professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA) is highly preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of finance experience, preferably in the hospitality or tourism sector.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
• Analytical Mindset: Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for the General Manager and department heads.
• Integrity: High level of ethical standards to maintain a secure and efficient financial environment
• Strong proficiency in Property Management Systems (PMS) and corporate banking portals.
• In-depth knowledge of financial reporting and revenue recognition principles (e.g., IFRS 15).
