Job Summary
The Head of Investment is responsible for formulating and executing the overall investment strategy of the Organization. S/He will provide oversee all investment activities to ensure the long-term growth and security of pension assets, regulatory compliance, and alignment with the Company’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute the Company’s investment strategy, policies, and assets allocation framework in line with regulatory guidelines and industry best practices.
• Manage and monitor the performance of all RSA Retirement Savings Account and Approved Existing Scheme portfolios to ensure optimal, risk-adjusted returns that meet or exceed client expectations and fund benchmarks.
• Proactively identify, evaluate, and secure viable investment opportunities across various asset classes, including money market, debt instruments, capital markets, and alternative investments, in compliance with PenCom regulations.
• Conduct continuous macroeconomic analysis, market trend monitoring, and competitor analysis to inform investment decisions and strategy adjustments.
• Ensure strict compliance with all PenCom investment guidelines, including authorized markets, allowable instruments, and investment limits.
• Ensure timely preparation and submission of comprehensive investment reports and regulatory returns to PenCom and other relevant bodies.
• Regular review of portfolio performance, analyzing deviations from benchmarks and adjusting as needed, and provide comprehensive performance reports to clients and senior management.
• Provide regular, expert advisory support and updates to the Board Investment Committee and other management committees on key developments affecting the investment landscape and portfolio performance.
• Collaborate with the Risk Management Department to ensure effective market and liquidity risk management frameworks are in place and adhered to within the investment division.
• Review client reports for Approved Schemes to ensure continuous adherence to investment mandates and regulatory guidelines.
• Oversee the management and development of the Investment team, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous professional growth.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients, regulators especially PenCom, fund managers, and financial market counterparties.
• Advocate for the advancement and deepening of the Pension industry through and with the relevant SROs and PenCom
Qualification and Experience
• A First Degree and a Post-Graduate Degree e.g., Master's, MBA
• ACI Dealing Certificate is an added advantage
• Insight and knowledge of local and international practices in the pensions and retirement benefits industry
• A minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience
• Proven experience in managing a large investment portfolio size of between N50Billion to N100Billion.
