Role Description
The Accountant Officer role is a full-time, on-site position based in Lagos. The individual in this role will handle daily accounting operations, including posting journal entries, maintaining general ledger accounts, and reconciling bank statements and other financial records.
Responsibilities include preparing invoices, processing payments, managing accounts payable and receivable, and assisting with month-end and year-end closing activities.
The Accountant
Officer will support the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts, ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and local regulations, and assist with internal and external audits. The role also involves collaborating with other departments to provide accurate financial information, monitoring cash flow, and identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls.
Qualifications
• Candidates should possess strong core accounting skills, including general ledger management, bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and preparation of financial statements.
• Candidates should possess skills in financial analysis and reporting, such as budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and supporting audit processes.
• Candidates should possess proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel), with the ability to work with spreadsheets, financial models, and data analysis.
• Candidates should possess knowledge of relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and compliance requirements applicable in Nigeria.
• Candidates should possess strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, problem-solving abilities, and organizational skills for managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Candidates should possess effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams and present financial information clearly.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; professional certifications (e.g., ICAN, ACCA) or progress toward certification are an added advantage.
• Relevant experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably within a corporate or outsourcing environment, will be beneficial.
