Job Description: The Senior Pipeline Engineer will perform the following engineering-based assignments, which will include preparation and review of documents prior to their submission for approval. Essentially, the Senior Pipeline Engineer shall be responsible for the engineering design, analysis, and integrity of onshore and offshore pipeline systems. This role involves leading pipeline design activities from the conceptual stage through detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning, ensuring compliance with international standards, project specifications, and safety requirements.
Engineering Design & Analysis
• Lead the design of pipeline systems, including routing, wall thickness calculation, and material selection.
• Perform hydraulic analysis, flow assurance studies, and surge analysis.
• Carry out stress analysis using industry software (e.g., CAESAR II, AutoPIPE).
• Develop pipeline alignment sheets, isometrics, and general arrangement drawings.
• Design pipeline supports, anchors, expansion loops, and crossings (roads, rivers, railways).
Codes, Standards & Compliance
• Ensure designs comply with applicable standards, such as:
• ASME B31.4/B31.8
• API standards
• DNV (for offshore pipelines)
• Apply client specifications (Shell, TotalEnergies, NLNG, etc.) and project requirements.
• Prepare and review:
• Material Requisitions (MR)
• Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE)
• Datasheets and specifications for pipes, fittings, valves, and coatings.
• Select appropriate materials, considering corrosion, pressure, temperature, and environment.
Project Execution
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams:
• Process
• Mechanical
• Civil/Structural
• Instrumentation
• Support HAZID, HAZOP, and design reviews.
• Provide engineering support during procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
Leadership & Management Responsibilities
• Review and approve engineering deliverables.
• Interface with clients, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
• Lead and mentor junior pipeline engineers and designers.
• Manage project schedules, deliverables, and quality control.
Technical Skills
• Strong knowledge of pipeline engineering software:
• CAESAR II/AutoPIPE
• Pipeline Studio/OLGA (flow assurance)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and PDMS/E3D.
Required qualifications and Experience:
• 10 years of experience in Engineering practice; most of the which has been spent in the Oil & Gas / Petrochemical Industry.
• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Electrical, or equivalent as applicable.
• COREN Registered.
• In-depth knowledge of ISO, API, ASME, ANSI, MSS, ASHRAE, etc. Design codes and standards as applicable in Oil and Gas petrochemical operations.
