Role Description The Head of Accounting is a full-time, on-site role based in Port Harcourt, responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting activities for OBEK Group of Companies Limited. This role manages the preparation, review, and consolidation of financial statements, ensures accurate general ledger postings, and maintains compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising the accounting team, monitoring cash flow and budgeting processes, overseeing accounts payable and receivable, and supporting audits and regulatory filings.

The Head of Accounting will provide timely financial analysis to leadership, support strategic decision-making, and recommend improvements to internal controls and financial processes. The role also involves close collaboration with operations, finance, and senior management to ensure effective planning, cost control, and risk management across the Group.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Accounting and Financial Reporting skills, including preparation and review of Financial Statements in line with applicable standards.
• Candidates should possess solid Finance and Analytical Skills to support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and data-driven decision-making.
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA) and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Several years of progressively responsible experience in accounting leadership, preferably within multi-entity or diversified business environments.
• Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems, and strong proficiency in MS Excel and other financial analysis tools.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams, implement robust internal controls, and manage external audits and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a high level of integrity and attention to detail.
• Experience in sectors such as construction, manufacturing, agriculture, or energy services is an advantage.
