Job Description
Blue Phoenix Deepwater Limited, a leading indigenous provider of subsea diving, underwater inspection, repair and maintenance services for offshore and nearshore floating assets in oil, gas and marine industry, is hiring an experienced Receivables and Billing Accountant to maximise timely and accurate project billing and collections while ensuring all contractual revenue, reimbursables and approved variations are captured.
Key duties and responsibilities
• Prepare accurate and timely invoices in accordance with the drilling contract, approved rates, billing milestones and supporting documentation requirements.
• Calculate and invoice drilling day rates, mobilisation/demobilisation, reimbursables, personnel, equipment, services, approved variations and other contractual entitlements.
• Review project activities and contractual provisions to identify unbilled revenue, recoverable costs, variations, claims and potential revenue leakage.
• Coordinate with Commercial, Operations and Project Finance to ensure changes in scope and additional services are properly documented and billed.
• Maintain an up-to-date aged receivables report and provide collection forecasts to the Project Finance Controller.
• Follow up overdue invoices and coordinate resolution of customer queries and payment issues.
• Coordinate resolution of invoice rejections, deductions, short payments and disputed amounts.
• Maintain proper documentation of all billing disputes and agreed resolutions.
• Maintain complete audit trails for all invoices and adjustments.
• Comply with approved financial controls, delegated authorities, project procedures and applicable laws and regulations.
• Work collaboratively with other project functions to support safe, efficient and commercially successful project delivery.
Required skills, education and experience
• Bachelor’s degree/HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related discipline.
• ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification is a must have.
• 5–8 years’ relevant billing, receivables or project accounting experience, preferably in contract-based oil & gas, offshore or marine operations.
• Strong analytical and numerical ability.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems capability.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Integrity, confidentiality, professional discipline and sound judgement.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
