Job Description
This appointment presents an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned construction professional to participate in the delivery of major aviation and infrastructure projects with significant technical, commercial and strategic importance.

ROLE PURPOSE

Reporting directly to the Project Director, the Senior Project Manager will provide overall leadership for the planning, coordination and delivery of major airport, airfield and reinforced concrete construction projects.

The successful candidate will manage projects from mobilisation and design coordination through procurement, construction, commissioning, handover and close-out.

The role requires an experienced construction leader capable of coordinating multiple parallel work fronts, multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors, specialist suppliers and senior stakeholders under demanding project programmes.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for:
• Programme management
• Airport and airfield construction management
• Leadership of multidisciplinary project teams

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Programme Management
• Develop and manage comprehensive project execution programmes.
• Establish construction milestones, critical paths, work-front priorities and project dependencies.
• Coordinate multiple parallel construction activities under demanding delivery schedules.
• Monitor progress against approved programmes and implement recovery measures where required.
• Manage master programmes, short-term programmes and look-ahead schedules.
• Ensure alignment between design, procurement, construction and commissioning activities.

Airport and Airfield Construction Management
• Provide overall leadership for the delivery of airport, airfield and associated infrastructure works.
• Coordinate construction activities involving terminal facilities, operational buildings, airfield-related structures and supporting infrastructure.
• Manage major civil, structural and reinforced concrete works.
• Coordinate site mobilisation, logistics, equipment, labour, temporary works and construction sequencing.
• Ensure all works comply with approved drawings, technical specifications, contractual requirements and applicable international standards.
• Manage construction activities within operationally sensitive, security-controlled or restricted-access environments where applicable.

Reinforced Concrete Construction

The successful candidate must demonstrate substantial experience in the delivery of heavy reinforced concrete structures, including:
• Major foundations and substructures
• Reinforced concrete frames
• Suspended and ground-bearing slabs
• Structural cores
• Retaining walls and retaining structures
• Complex reinforcement systems
• Formwork and temporary works
• Concrete production and quality control
• Facade and external-envelope works
• Large structural and infrastructure components

Leadership and Team Management
• Lead engineers, construction managers, planners, quantity surveyors, consultants, contractors and specialist subcontractors.
• Establish clear responsibilities, reporting arrangements and performance expectations.
• Build a disciplined, accountable and performance-driven project environment.
• Lead project coordination, progress, technical and performance meetings.
• Mentor project personnel and address underperformance promptly.
• Promote cooperation among design, procurement, commercial and construction teams.

Design Coordination
• Coordinate architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and specialist design inputs.
• Lead constructability and design-coordination reviews.
• Identify design conflicts, omissions and risks before they affect site activities.
• Manage technical queries, requests for information, design revisions and approvals.
• Ensure the timely release of drawings and technical information.
• Coordinate BIM-enabled design and construction processes where applicable.

Procurement Coordination
• Develop procurement schedules aligned with project delivery programmes.
• Identify long-lead materials, equipment and specialist packages.
• Coordinate technical evaluations of suppliers, subcontractors and specialist contractors.
• Monitor procurement, manufacturing, delivery and installation activities.
• Prevent procurement delays from affecting critical project milestones.
• Ensure that materials and equipment comply with approved specifications.

Quality Management
• Establish and enforce project quality-management systems.
• Ensure the implementation of inspection and test plans, method statements and quality-control procedures.
• Monitor reinforcement, concrete works, formwork, structural elements, finishes and facade installations.
• Review non-conformance reports and ensure timely corrective action.
• Maintain the required quality standards throughout construction, commissioning and handover.
• Promote a culture in which quality is built into every stage of project delivery.

Cost Control and Commercial Coordination
• Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
• Work closely with quantity-surveying and commercial teams.
• Review valuations, variations, claims, forecasts and cost reports.
• Identify potential cost overruns and implement corrective measures.
• Evaluate the financial implications of design changes and programme delays.
• Support value engineering without compromising safety, quality or design intent.

Risk Management
• Develop and maintain comprehensive project risk registers.
• Identify technical, programme, commercial, procurement, safety and stakeholder risks.
• Establish practical mitigation and contingency measures.
• Escalate significant risks to the Project Director.

Stakeholder Management
• Serve as a senior interface among the client, consultants, contractors, regulatory authorities and company leadership.
• Manage stakeholder expectations professionally.
• Lead technical, commercial and progress meetings.
• Communicate project decisions, risks, requirements and progress clearly.
• Maintain effective relationships with aviation, security, government and other relevant stakeholders where applicable.
• Protect the company’s commercial, contractual and reputational interests.

Reporting and Governance
• Prepare comprehensive weekly and monthly project reports.
• Report on programme, construction progress, procurement, quality, cost, safety, risk and stakeholder matters.
• Present project-performance information to the Project Director and senior management.
• Maintain proper project documentation, correspondence, approvals and decision records.
• Ensure compliance with project-governance and change-control procedures.
• Provide reliable completion, cost and resource forecasts.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in *Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Construction Management*.
• A relevant master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline is strongly preferred.
• Membership of a recognised engineering, construction or project-management professional body is desirable.

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS

Candidates must possess a recognised project or programme-management certification, such as:
• Project Management Professional — PMP
• PRINCE2 Practitioner
• PMI Agile Certified Practitioner — PMI-ACP
• Certified ScrumMaster or an equivalent Agile qualification
• Another recognised international project-management certification

Candidates must also demonstrate experience implementing structured project-management systems, controls and reporting frameworks.

MANDATORY EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate must possess:
• A minimum of *15 years’ progressive construction experience*.
• At least *10 years’ experience managing large reinforced concrete construction projects*.
• Demonstrated experience delivering technically complex projects involving multiple parallel work fronts.
• Strong experience managing demanding construction programmes.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary construction teams.
• Experience coordinating design, procurement, commercial and construction activities.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, variations, claims and change management.
• Experience managing consultants, contractors, subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
• Proven responsibility for programme, quality, cost, risk and stakeholder management.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety, environmental and quality-management requirements.

HIGHLY DESIRABLE SECTOR EXPERIENCE

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:

• Project-documentation and reporting platforms
