Role Description We are seeking a competent and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
This is a full-time, on-site position responsible for managing the company's day-to-day accounting and financial operations. The Accountant will maintain accurate financial records, prepare financial statements and management reports, manage accounts payable and receivable, reconcile bank accounts and financial transactions, and monitor cash flow.
The role will also support budgeting and forecasting, ensure compliance with applicable tax and financial regulations, assist with internal and external audits, and provide management with timely financial analysis and recommendations to support effective decision-making.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong numerical accuracy, analytical ability, attention to detail, confidentiality, professional ethics, and the ability to meet reporting deadlines consistently.
Key Responsibilities • Maintain accurate financial records, accounting ledgers, and supporting documentation.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Reconcile bank statements and other financial transactions.
• Monitor cash flow and support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable Nigerian tax and statutory requirements, including VAT, WHT, PAYE, and other relevant obligations.
• Assist with internal and external audits and regulatory reporting.
• Maintain proper financial documentation and records for audit and compliance purposes.
• Support management with financial analysis, cost monitoring, reporting, and recommendations.
• Ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded and properly classified.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical accounting standards.
Qualifications and Requirements • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, general ledger management, financial reporting, and core accounting principles.
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliation, and financial record management.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Zoho Books, Tally, or similar platforms.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and basic financial analysis.
• Practical knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations and statutory compliance, including VAT, WHT, and PAYE.
• Understanding of audit processes and financial documentation requirements.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
• High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
• Professional accounting certification such as ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, or CIMA is an added advantage.
• Previous experience in financial services, asset management, lending, or related financial institutions is highly beneficial.
