Role Description: The Finance Office/Accountant is a full-time, Hybrid role based in Lagos Mainland.

The Finance

Officer / Accountant will manage the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting function of MDU Capital, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely reporting across the firm's proprietary books and, where applicable, client fund accounts. The role requires strong technical accounting skills combined with a working understanding of asset management operations, including fund valuations, NAV computation, and investment accounting.
Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and supporting schedules in line with IFRS and applicable regulatory standards.
• Support periodic Net Asset Value (NAV) computation and fund/portfolio accounting, ensuring accuracy of valuations, accruals, and fee calculations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports for review by the CFO/Management.
• Manage accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and cash flow monitoring.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support management decision-making.
• Ensure timely remittance of statutory obligations (WHT, VAT, PAYE, pension, etc.) and liaise with tax consultants where required.
• Support statutory and regulatory audits, including coordination with external auditors and regulators (SEC, FRC, etc.).
• Maintain internal financial controls and recommend process improvements to strengthen the control environment.
• Support treasury functions, including funding schedules and liquidity monitoring across client and proprietary accounts.
• Assist in the preparation of board and investment committee financial reports as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) required or in advanced progress.
• 3 – 5 years' post-qualification experience in accounting/finance, with demonstrable exposure to the asset management, fund/portfolio management, or broader financial services industry.
• Working knowledge of fund accounting, NAV computation, and investment/portfolio reporting is strongly preferred.
• Sound understanding of IFRS and Nigerian regulatory/tax requirements.

Skills & Competencies
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills; familiarity with fund administration or portfolio management systems is an advantage.
• High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive financial information.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple reporting deadlines.
• Good communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
