Job Description
• The Project Officer is a junior role on our team. This colleague spends 60% of their time working in the delivery of ongoing and new research projects or projects testing technological, business, or social innovation. They then spend the rest of their time contributing to a positively energetic team dynamic and supporting both reactive and business development efforts to grow our portfolio across sub-Saharan Africa.
Some specific responsibilities will include:
• Support project planning and delivery to successful completion and reporting, on-time and on-budget, from start to finish with limited senior management guidance.
• Support mid- and mid-to-senior team members in their engagements as trusted liaisons to our clients, consortium partners, and diverse stakeholders and collaborators.
• Support the hiring and managing of both internal and external human resources in the design, development, and delivery of projects and programmes.
• Proactively seek out continuing professional development both through established channels within the organisation and other external opportunities that support their continued learning and development.
• Contribute to the identification and pursuit of new business opportunities through proactive stakeholder engagements, ideation and design of new innovations, or proposal development; and
• Work to strengthen compliance with standard operating procedures, internal processes, and best-practices across our work and in all strategic engagements.
• Support mid- and mid-to-senior team members to identify partners, consultants, and subject matter experts across Countries in the sub-region to facilitate collaborations and strategic partnerships.
• Support mid- and mid-to-senior team members to engage with stakeholders in the public health ecosystem to collect network intelligence that supports the design of new innovations and the development of new business opportunities.
• Manage proposal development including managing overall bid integrity, understanding the needs of the stakeholders, and development of relevant and cost-competitive bids; and
• Support marketing and outreach efforts, including thought leadership and stakeholder engagement activities.
Requirements
• The Project Officer will have a bachelor’s or Masters degree in Public Health, Health Administration, or a related field and 2-3 years’ relevant post-national experience in public health project management, partnership and stakeholder management, and technical writing.
• Candidate should also have relevant experience to be able to support the management of workshops, expert/stakeholder consultations, in-country presentations, and coordination activities for programmes and projects.
• Experience in engaging with government officials is desirable.
• The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of French or Portuguese is an added advantage.
• The candidate will possess good interpersonal skills, good organisational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
• The ideal candidate will be able to work as part of a team, will be comfortable showing flexibility and adaptability to handle diverse tasks and changing priorities, show attention to detail, and have the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
