We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Executive Director, Retail Banking to lead and transform the retail banking division of a leading financial institution in Nigeria. This executive-level role demands a seasoned banking professional with a proven track record of driving growth, innovation, and operational excellence across retail banking operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the retail banking business, overseeing all consumer banking products and services, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer experiences across all channels. You will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to the overall corporate strategy while championing digital transformation, financial inclusion, and sustainable revenue growth. Job Responsibilities:

• Define and execute the overall strategic vision for the retail banking division, aligning with the institution's corporate goals and long-term growth objectives

• Oversee the full suite of retail banking products and services including savings and current accounts, consumer lending, mortgages, credit cards, wealth management, and bancassurance

• Drive aggressive but sustainable growth in the retail customer base, deposit volumes, and loan book while maintaining asset quality and managing credit risk

• Lead the digital transformation agenda for retail banking, championing the adoption of innovative technologies, mobile banking platforms, and data-driven customer engagement strategies

• Manage the retail banking P&L, ensuring the achievement of revenue targets, cost optimization, and profitability benchmarks across all product lines and channels

• Provide executive leadership to a large workforce spanning hundreds of branches nationwide, fostering a high-performance culture centered on accountability, collaboration, and customer-centricity

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies including the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), NDIC, and other relevant authorities to ensure full compliance

• Collaborate with the Chief Risk Officer and compliance teams to establish robust risk management frameworks, credit policies, and internal controls for the retail banking segment

• Represent the retail banking division at board meetings, investor briefings, industry conferences, and public forums, serving as a thought leader in Nigerian retail banking

• Identify and pursue strategic partnerships with fintech companies, telcos, and other ecosystem players to enhance product offerings, expand distribution, and drive financial inclusion

• Monitor market trends, competitive dynamics, and customer insights to continuously refine the retail banking strategy and maintain a competitive edge in the marketplace

Job Requirements:

• Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, Economics, Banking, or a related field from a reputable institution

• Minimum of 18–25 years of progressive experience in the banking and financial services industry, with at least 8 years in senior/executive leadership roles within retail banking

• Deep understanding of the Nigerian banking regulatory environment, including CBN guidelines, KYC/AML requirements, and consumer protection regulations

• Demonstrated success in driving large-scale retail banking growth, including deposits mobilization, loan portfolio expansion, and customer acquisition

• Extensive experience in digital banking transformation, fintech partnerships, and omnichannel strategy development

• Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret complex financial data, manage P&L responsibilities, and deliver on revenue and profitability targets

• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire large, diverse teams across multiple regions and branch networks

• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage effectively with board members, regulators, investors, and strategic partners

• Professional certifications such as ACIB (Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers), CFA, or equivalent are highly desirable

• Track record of fostering a culture of compliance, risk management, and ethical banking practices
